About

My name is David and I currently live in the state of Texas, USA! I was born in Germany because my father was in the US military stationed at Kaiserslautern. I also spent a lot of time in Nicaragua, where my wife is from. I am fluent in both English and Spanish.

Career-wise I have about 10 years of experience primarily developing web applications in PHP, Python and TypeScript/JavaScript. Some frameworks of those languages that I'm very familiar with are Drupal, React, Angular, and Flask. I consider myself language-agnostic though and while I haven't had a ton of professional experience developing with other languages, I do contribute to open source software and tinker in other languages such as C++ and Go.

Despite my non-computer-science degree from the University of Arizona, I am well adept at data structures and algorithms. I am in the top 5% of all performers on Interviewing.io. I also lead a book club in the Formation software engineering fellowship, where we have read Designing Data-Intensive Applications (one of my favorite books ever) and currently we read various papers every month. I participate in the SysDesign meetup which I look forward to very much and learn a lot. System design is an area that very much triggers my curiosity.

My main goal is just to work on something interesting and to learn from my wonderful co-workers if possible.

Personally, my wife and I are very excited to welcome our first child in September! Wish us luck!
